Description
The girl named Niru, who was the protagonist of the story, is the great-granddaughter of Sri Muthu Coomaraswamy. Sri Muthu Coomaraswamy was a scholar of Tamil origin who lived in the eighteenth century. He is the father of Mr. Ananda Coomaraswamy, a very famous archeologist in Sri Lanka. Niru explores following his grandfather’s footsteps. It is a very important task for her. And not a beautiful traditional Sri Lankan girl. A person with free behavior and free thinking.
Her lover “Sayuru” is from a completely different generation than her. His great-uncle was a devout Christian, the moneylender of Porolis. He is a liquor baron who got rich from the liquor trade. Through Sayuru’s thoughts, the author shows their social gap like this.
